OPPRIME.tv: Revolutionizing the Monetization of the Independent Film Market

The monetization of the independent film market is the Gordian Knot of the movie industry. Nobody in Hollywood, including Amazon Prime, has figured out how to make money from independent films. OPPRIME.tv solved the problem. The fatal flaw that independent filmmakers from making money was payment processing. A payment processing problem required a payment processing solution.

Why Has Hollywood Been Unable to Turn a Profit in the Independent Film Industry?

The only commonality between Hollywood and the Independent film industry is their traffic in movies. However, they are completely different businesses and industry economies. Hollywood’s acquisition of movies, and the marketing of Hollywood films viewers, is incompatible with the independent film industry.

Hollywood pays film distributors large amounts of money to buy the rights to movies, then making their money from commercials or ticket sales. This model is carried over to Hollywood’s streaming VOD platforms. This Hollywood economy model is inadequate for any sufficient royalty payments to the filmmaker in the independent film industry, as this existing business model is based on the film’s performance or “minutes viewed,” and does not recognize the individual filmmaker.

In the independent film industry, as presently structured, the filmmaker is able to refer their fans to subscribe to the video-on-demand (VOD) platform that streams their movie, but unfortunately, every web-based POS system does identify and link the filmmaker’s fan to the individual subscription. Thus, VODs cannot financially reward the filmmaker for their referral and any resulting subscription. With no royalty paid to the filmmaker for the referral, the filmmaker is not financially motivated to refer their fans. Therefore, the VOD does not acquire new subscribers through the filmmaker, and the platform makes less money.

On every existing VOD platform streaming independent films, the filmmaker only earns compensation based on their film’s performance – the total time their movie is viewed. Unfortunately, this standard business model is unable to further compensate the filmmaker for the value the filmmaker provides the VOD in bringing their fans to subscribe to the VOD.

The Power of the OPPRIME.tv Solution – Finally Independent Films Can Make Money!

We created a revolutionary mobile point of sales (POS) technology called the Referral Link. It allows independent filmmakers to market their films direct to their fans (friends, family, cast, crew artistic supporters, and others) through a subscription to OPPRIME.tv that directly links the subscription to the filmmaker. A fan’s subscription through the Referral Link allows the filmmaker to be paid monthly royalties throughout the life of the subscription. Additionally, by having access to OPPRIME.tv’s entire library of award-winning films, subscribers are motivated to continue with OPPRIME.tv. We are more than just a streaming platform like Netflix for independent filmmakers, we are more like a cash register that enables independent filmmakers to monetize their films.
